Founded in January, 2012, Global Solidarity Initiative, Inc. is an international, non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.A. Our mission is to inspire human solidarity to reduce suffering in the world’s most vulnerable groups by providing the means and knowledge to take initiatives and increase their self-capacity. We are focused on implementing healthcare, education and developmental initiatives with significant, sustainable impact.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
GSI efforts are to increase cooperation and coordination among stakeholders and partners in order to increase and diversify their revenues. We partner with private players to improve access to vocational training.
EDUCATION
Education is the heart of GSI’s strategy and interventions. It is essential to any country’s future. We partner with key players such as UNICEF, Teach The World Foundation to implement innovative and accessible approaches, and improve learning conditions to vulnerable groups.
HEALTH
GSI is implementing holistic health programs to help alleviate child nutrition status, basics healthcare, and access to safe drinkable water. We work with beneficiaries themselves and their communities and provide efficient and sustainable solutions.
CMU
To help the children talibé to have access to health care children, GSI has initiated a project of enlisting them in the Universal Health Coverage program (CMU). It is in that GSI has partnered with the Agency of the Universal Health Coverage program (CMU), which has already resulted in the decision to award a CMU (1000 FCFA therefore less expensive than the standard amount of 3500 FCFA) to the talibés ( similar to the CMU student). With support of the State of Senegal and partners, the implementation of the project "CMU DAARA" throughout Senegal is now envisaged. The original approach, which will make this enrollment at CMU preceded by the mapping and then pair it with the recording project to the register offices of children talibes, was also adopted.
We're enlisting the talibés in health mutual of their area of residence, through a unified database.
For the enrollment of 127,822 talibés in Touba, funding will be fully supported by the Khalif of Murid who is already committed to this end. Compared with other areas of the country, other funding mechanisms must be found.

GEOLOCALIZED MAPPING OF DAARAS
Today, all the actors recognize the limitations of interventions for young children, as the level of knowledge and mastery of the difficulties still around. Indeed, until now, the research did not allow for reliable information and figures on the exact number of Koranic schools located in Senegal, the number of children attending Koranic schools, the conditions of learning and child lives in these Koranic schools etc. Studies are usually partial and relate only to some parts of the country.
As such, GSI created the first database ever of daaras , with the support of the Government of Senegal and partners, geolocalized mappings of the different regions of Senegal, to strengthen the knowledge base on the conditions of Koranic schools that receive children in begging situation. This exercise takes place in a context of reform of Koranic teaching with the forthcoming adoption of the bill on the status of Koranic schools.
The implementation of a geographic location mapping Koranic schools is the first step in the implementation process of the service package. This mapping of daaras will provide gradually for the first time, a reliable database on all Koranic schools of the country, a reference location and a real tool for decision for public authorities and religious, development partners, etc. for
